Not So Fun......

Just had to throw in these cute pics of the boys doing everyday sort of things. Even just a simple trip to the laundry mat to wash the bedding is filled with so much joy when the the Mischievous McCormack Boys are around. Luckily this day there were games to play and vending machines to raid.

One of my favorite parks to visit in the valley (Hidden Valley) is at the base of the mountains and the base of the Bell Canyon hiking trail. There is also a nice trail that goes around the park that I like to walk but on this particularly warm June afternoon the boys were not big fans. They were so happy to see a nice place to rest on this bench in the shade. Needless to say I was unable to persuade them to venture onto the hiking trail.
Landon and Lucas got all dressed up for my friend Sarah's wedding. Lucas has not been to a wedding for a couple of years and was so curious as to what was going on. The whole time he kept asking questions: "Why is everyone so quiet?", "When can I go and play?", "Why are they (bride & groom) just standing up there?". We did make it through the wedding without disrupting the whole thing and have since explained a couple of times the process and purpose of getting married.

Thomas the Train

A couple of weeks ago we took the boys up to the Heber Valley Railroad to ride Thomas the Train. We took Lucas about 3 years ago to ride Thomas and he really enjoyed it so we figured Landon would also enjoy going for a ride. The boys both packed their back packs full of things they would need for the journey: their cameras, water bottles, hand sanitizer, some cars & trucks, paper & markers and of course Lucas had to bring his music player his dad handed down to him.

Landon of course enjoyed seeing some cows on the ride and Lucas was full of 10,000 questions as always. Not only did the boys get to ride Thomas but they also got to get Thomas tattoos, meet Sir Topham Hatt, go through a maze and pick out a special treat at the gift shop.

On our way home we took a scenic drive down Provo Canyon and both of the boys were able to get in a much needed nap and mom and dad got some much needed quit time.

Last Soccer Game of the Season

Lucas had his last soccer game of the season while Aunt Tonia was in town visiting. He was so excited to have another fan sitting on the sidelines cheering him on. For me it was the end of my soccer coaching career.....or so I think. I really enjoyed each of the little boys on our team and miss seeing them every week. Lucas still tells me how much he misses playing soccer even though he plays at home everyday.Luckily we are already signed up for the fall season so he has something to look forward to at the end of summer......something more than just starting kindergarten. I on the other hand did not sign up to coach again next season but did volunteer to step up if needed so we will just have to wait and see.

Aunt Tona & Wolverine

Three weeks ago Steve went out of town on an all guys trip to southern Utah to go biking, rafting and to do a little male bonding. Per your requests I have included a picture of his hair, which he was to fashion in an unusual way so as not to be done against his will by other adult men attending the trip. We opted for the opposite of a Mohawk which ended up looking a little like one of Lucas' favorite super hero's - Wolverine (note the Wolverine claws). Luckily when he returned home at the end of the 4 days all we had to do to return his hair to normal was finish shaving it.The day before Steve left on his trip my sister Tonia flew into town for a much needed visit. Luckily she was here to see my husband in all is glory. ;) I was so thankful to have company in town to help with the boys and it gave the boys something to do so they didn't sit around the house missing dad all day. Even though the boys are not real fond of shopping we did manage to spend our fare share of time at the local retail stores. We tried to make it as fun as possible for the boys....like the 2 minute carousal ride at the mall that Aunt Tonia got to ride as well. Unfortunately the older we get the less us adults like to spin in circles for fun and Aunt Tona (for those of you who don't know - it's really Aunt Tonia but the boys both call her Tona) ended up with quit a headache. Well duh why did she think I insisted she take the boys and not me?? :)
We saved what was supposed to be the nicest day during her visit to go to Wheeler Farm and have a picnic. Even though it rained off and on the whole day we still managed to walk around and visit all the animals. Landon really enjoyed riding the real pony and Lucas wanted no part of it.
Lucas did enjoy feeding the ducks and geese. Little does he know that his mom is more afraid of them than I am the ponies.

We had such a good time hanging out with Aunt Tona and really hated seeing her go home. Lucas cried off and on the day after she left and kept saying he missed Aunt Tona. While she was here we went for a walk every evening after dinner and for the first week after she left he would not go for a walk because he said it would make him think of Aunt Tona and he did not want to go without her. :( It is hard living away from my family and even more so now that I have kids - but it sure makes the time we do spend together so much more valuable.

It's All In the Performance

Lucas had his Spring Show for Adventure Preschool at the Wheeler Farm a couple of weeks ago. He has never been one to bolt out a song for either one of us, so to see him perform and sing in his school programs is quit a treat for all of us. He takes the whole performance quit seriously.
This year my favorite part was a song where the boys and girls danced as couples. During this performance Lucas was unable to keep from smiling.

Later I learned that it might have been in part because he had a slight crush on his partner Brynn..........
I always hoped my boys would wear a crown........

It's Raining.......

Something I have wanted to get the boys for quit some time was rain boots. I finally found some at Target that didn't have superheros plastered all over them plus they were on sale. That might have been the best $20 I ever spent! The first day the boys wore them non-stop and because they were clean I even let them wear them in the house. Now I wonder if I should have bought them each a back-up pair!! We have had lots of rain this past month and even after the rain stops there is still the mud that before I worried about them playing in and ruining their good shoes. Now that it is getting a bit warmer I love to see them in shorts and rain boots. ;)
