Landon Loves T-Ball

Last month Landon began his baseball career by playing t-ball. He was one of the youngest kids on his team but that did not seem to faze him one bit. His first game we were not sure if he would even participate or not but he followed his coach and teammates to the sideline until it was his turn to bat. The first time he hit the ball he just sort of stood there not quit sure what to do until the coach showed him where to run to first base. The next time he bat he remembered where to go and slowly walked to first base. Once he was on the base he usually needed someone to tell him when to advance to second, third or home. Towards the end of the short season he seemed to really be getting the hang of his offensive duties.
Playing in the outfield was another story, there seemed to be so many distractions. The first couple of times he did get the ball he would put it in his left hand with his mitt and try to throw it that way. It makes me giggle just thinking about it. Priceless!! We cannot wait to sign him up again. And of course there was a lot of nail biting going on.....a habit I wish he would quit. ;)

Zoo Field Trip

Last month I was lucky enough to get to chaperon on Lucas' kindergarten field trip to the zoo. My friend Becky McArthur and I were assigned to keep track of the seven boys in the class. Just getting to ride on the bus with all their school friends was so exciting.
There were at least a dozen other buses full of children at the zoo this particular day so at times it was a little nerve racking trying to keep track of the seven rambunctious little guys. One of the boys strayed from our group while at the playground but luckily we quickly recovered him.
We all were pretty tired at the end of the day and I even got to go for a little run as one of the boys told me, as we were sitting on the bus getting ready to leave, that he left his jacket at the lunch table. I ran all the way back to get his jacket and then back to the bus. Note to self......remind kids to grab all their stuff before leaving the lunch table.
