Day 6 - San Diego, California - Mission Beach

Thursday was our last day in California and we decided to rent bikes and ride along the boardwalk at Mission Beach.  It was a little chilly and I was thankful we did not pick this day for laying on the beach.  All of our bikes were pretty beat up and Landon had no choice but to ride the bike with cherries.  :) This made it all that much more fun.

Fun shopping along the way!

We found a yummy hot dog joint and enjoyed a much needed lunch before heading back to turn in the bikes.
We headed back to the hotel so we would have plenty of time for swimming and an evening stroll along the beach.

Good Night in California and the perfect ending to our vacation!

Day 5 - Carlsbad, California - Beach

Wednesday we woke up and took a drive north to Oceanside, California.  We took a walk along the Pier and neither one of the boys liked being that far out above the water.  Later we met up with my friend Abril and her family for lunch in Carlsbad.

Once it finally warmed up we spent the afternoon at the beach just down from our hotel.

 Tuckered out.

Day 4 - San Diego, California - Sea World

Lucas chose to go to Sea World for the day and once again we were not disappointed.
Landon asked me if I have ever been that close to a "Plamingo" before, as a parade of them walked right in front of us.

We watched the dolphin show again and Steve said he was getting bored towards the end because it was the same show we saw last year.  I on the other hand could have sat and watched them all day.  They are so beautiful and graceful.

Lucas got to feed the seals again and thought is was so cool.  Landon chose that time to throw a fit so he did not get to feed them.
For lunch we had yummy ice cream cones, something we never do.

Once again the boys loved the ping pong table.  Luckily I brought extra ping pong balls because they are often hard to find in the dark and we went through our fair share of them.

Day 3 - San Diego, California - USS Midway

The boys were not very excited about going on the USS Midway, but Steve and I were.  We spent a little over 3 hours walking around touring the carrier and viewing all the aircraft.  I could have spent a couple more hours there.  My favorite part was being down in the bowels of the ship and seeing first hand where the crew ate and slept while serving our country aboard the USS Midway.

Steve really enjoyed checking out the aircraft and the missiles.

After spending the morning on the ship we then ate lunch along the pier.  We also caved in and took a guided tour on a cycle rickshaw from the ever persistent driver.  At first I felt bad for this guy pedaling the four of us around but soon just sat back and enjoyed the ride.

There he is, such a friendly guy he was and so very proud of his home city of San Diego.
Of course once I realized there was a lighthouse not far away I insisted upon a closer look.  It was about a 15 minute drive from downtown and I was glad I insisted.  This is the Point Loma Light Station located near the Cabrillo National Monument.

Of course there was time after dinner for more swimming and a little night walk on the beach.  My favorite!!
